April 29 2014 (May is next)
Seeds did good this year. Total cost of seeds was about $25.00 with sweet corn.
Everything is up and growing well.
You can see the darker soil color against the clay ( walking area) top.
May 2014
How it's done.
Mixed top soil placed back into trench.
Upper section has 50 foot rows, lower section rows are 25 foot long.
Each 3"w x 20"d x 75'l trench took over 1 full tractor dump bucket full of dirt to fill. That ended up with about
16 big tractor bucket loads of mixed dirt to fill trenchs in total.
All top soil removed along with trenching.
50' long, trench will be 3' apart, 16-20 inches deep by 3" wide.
8" drop in 50 foot with open row end for drain.
Cleaned out all top soil and clay in the trench
Trench has fresh fert., manure and some gravel added to bottom of trench.
Next step is to add fresh 3/4 top soil with 1/4 part of potting soil and sand. Mix well and fill up each trench.

Next step is adding the watering system. You can see part of the 8000 gal. underground watertank in pictures
1, 2, 3, (under the black fabric, you can just see the man hole cover) This tank refills naturally after each
rain.
1 - 25 foot soaker hoses per row on the right side of garden.
1 - 50 foot soaker hoses per row on the left side of garden.( with cut offs on each line)
Takes only 5 min. to water the whole 26 row garden with a flip of the switch on a
110v 1 1/2 hp pump .
The 5 gal bucket protects the pump motor very well.
Water tank is only 5'- 6' feet deep by 5'- 6' wide but it's 25' feet long.
Natural flow of rain water runs directly into water tank. Pump will sit on top of plate..
Refill in drought times is done by using water from the upper pond through a ram pump back to tank.
